investigative

My favorite of the “5 Ws” has always been the fifth one – “Why?”

The best investigative reporters are smart, curious and tenacious -- but also compassionate human beings. When someone shares a part of his or her life story with me, I consider it a privilege to be able to tell that story.

I’ve been doing consumer investigations for the past two decades, so I have lot of great sources. But some of the best tips come from readers and viewers, who let me know when something is affecting their lives.

Here are some examples of my reporting work in television investigations:

  • Dangers of ATVs
  • Deaths from automobile power windows
  • Farmers market frauds
  • Chemicals in tap water
  • Fraud in interstate moving industry
  • Automobile leasing fraud
  • Adulterated food
  • Fraudulent business opportunities

And ... I write and produce The Fixer, which has recovered more than $2 million for consumers and given me lots of ideas and inspiration for bigger stories.
